The most unique winery in the Finger LakesThe Finger Lakes is home to more than 60 wineries. So sometimes they tend to blend together a little bit. However, there are several that go out of their way to be unique, and as such are memorable and worth visiting. Here are recommendations straight from the Innkeepers regarding the most unique winery in the Finger Lakes. Arcadian Estate Winery - My guests all claim that they had found that this is the most unique & fun because of how they treat their visitors. Guests come back here with beaded necklaces and say they had a ball! Located in Rock Stream on the Southwest side of Seneca Lake. ~ Robin & Michael Grentus - A Wolfpack Bed 'n Breakfast Shalestone Vineyards - For serious wine drinkers, this is a little winery not to be missed. Dry Reds are all they do, and they do them very well. In most wineries, it is rare to meet the winemaker. At Shalestone, the well respected winemaker is also your tasting host as he walks you through his pride and joy (with a little philosophy mixed in for fun). Located in Lodi on the Eastern side of Seneca Lake. ~ Steve and Kathy Wirt - Wine Country Cabins Bed and Breakfast Lakeshore Winery - Relax in the comfort of rocking chairs, be informed, and enjoy the appropriate food tidbits that enhance the flavor of the wine being shared. And of course the nice, crackling fire is just the thing to warm you up on a cold, winter day! Located on the West side of Cayuga Lake. ~ Jan Revi - 1843 House B&B Four Chimneys - An organic winery with tastings in a "real" old barn, not a new one made to look old. The people there are very nice and really make you feel welcome. ~ Glenda Nash - Gentle Giants Bed and Breakfast Keuka Overlook Wine Cellars - This probably might not be fair since we own it, but I recommend it as the most unique winery. We have focused on UNIQUE and very limited releases. In an effort to try to be different than all the other wineries, we frequently produce small but very unique batches of wines. These range from Blueberry Champagne to Mulberry dessert wine (the fruit is harvested from only one large mulberry tree in our back yard!) to a Chardonnay based White Port to a Meritage Blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot) to a Gamay Beaujolais to late harvest Gewurztraminers and Chardonnays! We even offer a proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Mulberry. Located on the East side of Keuka Lake. ~ Terry - Keuka Overlook B&B Rasta Ranch Vineyards - It's unique to say the least. My theory is that a van filled with "hippies" broke down returning from Woodstock in the late 60's, and the passengers decided to settle right there. The tasting room is in a barn, the gift shop features tie-died shirts and cotton dresses from India, and jug wine is a specialty. If you are an aging boomer, you will really get a kick out of the tasting sheet notes.
