Best Winery in the Finger Lakes for Sweet White Wine

The Finger Lakes region makes some of the best white wine in the world. If you are looking for white wines that happen to be on the sweeter side (semi-sweet to sweet), then it helps to know where to look. Our local innkeepers have shared their thoughts as they recommend the best wineries in the Finger Lakes for sweet white wine and here's what they had to say.

Earle Estates Meadery - The Finger Lakes wineries have a wide variety of sweet white wines. For something a little different, we recommend people try something that is not actually a wine - Meade. Earle's Meadery has updated the ancient process of fermenting honey and water, producing Meade that is light and flavorful. Earle's has Meade that is made with various fruits, but we enjoy their Traditional Honey Meade as an after dinner wine. Located on the West side of Seneca Lake. ~ Burney & Susan Baron - Los Gatos Bed & Breakfast

Four Chimneys Organic Winery - is a delightful small winery overlooking Seneca Lake. They grow organic and have some very good sweet white wines. Their fruit blends are great too, Bill especially enjoys the Blueberry and their blends don't have the unwelcome aftertaste that many blends do. We always enjoy talking to the friendly hostess in the "Real" old barn where you can taste their wines, admire the barn and enjoy the antiques. If you like sweet wine, this unpretentious and charming winery is a must stop that will be a treat to your taste buds. Located on Hall Rd. just off Rt.14, South of Himrod on the West side of Seneca Lake. ~ Glenda Nash - Gentle Giants Bed and Breakfast

Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars - We absolutely enjoy Dr. Frank's Gewurztraminer Limited. Not overly sweet but has slight residual sugar with a clean and fresh finish. Pairs nicely with spicy and light dishes.  ~ Guy Straw - Inn on the Main

Swedish Hill Vineyards - My recommendation for sweet white wine is Swedish Hill Winery's Svenska White. They're located on Rt. 414 just south of Seneca Falls. I like the Svenska Blush also. ~ Judy Austic - Barrister's Bed and Breakfast

Hunt Country Vineyards - in Branchport on Keuka Lake.  They produce incredible ice wines and the Ice Vidal has already been served at the United Nations as well as the White House.  ~ Terry - Keuka Overlook B&B

Prejean Winery - Ice wines are gaining in popularity as a dessert wine not only in the Finger Lakes but nation wide; and the Finger Lakes has many wineries that produce a good ice wine. Because of the production method, however, ice wines are expensive and risky to make; therefore expensive to buy. For those on a budget, good alternatives are the late harvest or vignoles wines for a sweet dessert wine. Prejean Winery on the west side of Seneca Lake has a very nice and affordable Late Harvest Vignoles. ~ Donna - Yale Manor Bed and Breakfast

Tickle Hill Winery - is a small winery sitting on the East hill overlooking Seneca Lake. They are a family run winery that has a lot of good clean fun making sweet and semi-sweet wines. Their variety is impressive given their small size and for sweet white wines they are definitely worth a drive up Tickle Hill. ~ Steve and Kathy Wirt - Wine Country Cabins Bed and Breakfast
