The best Finger Lakes gift shop

The Finger Lakes region has a long history of being a tourist destination. As such, many gift shops have cropped up over the years. There are a lot to choose from, but to help you make your choice of what gift shops not to miss our innkeepers have expressed their opinions. Here are the innkeeper's recommendations on the best Finger Lakes gift shop.

Five Seasons Gifts

On 332 (Main Street) just north of Canandaigua is a wonderful shop filled with local and regional gifts for every season and every occasion.  The homemade fudge is a nice added touch, and it even has much for children to look at and explore. ~ Jack & Donna Delehanty - Bed & Breakfast at Oliver Phelps

They are located in a beautiful log home and have a wide variety of gifts covering almost everyone's tastes. I send guests up there all the time and they love it. ~ Robin & Michael Grentus - A Wolfpack Bed 'n Breakfast

The Lodge - There's a great little shop, especially for nature lovers. They have nature themed T shirts, sweatshirts, jewelry and knickknacks. There is also a great selection of bird guide books, books and toys for children and some wonderful birdsong CDs. The Folkman puppets and the little plush birds singing their actual songs are a big hit, as is the pottery designed and made locally. There are magnets for your fridge, framed pictures for your walls and butterflies and bees for your garden. Because The Lodge is run solely by volunteers, the overhead is low and therefore the prices very reasonable. Opening for the season April 1st, the hours are 10:00AM to 3:00PM weekdays and 10:00 to 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday. It's located in the Visitor's Center at Montezuma Wildlife Refuge on Rt.5&20, East of Seneca Falls. ~ Glenda Nash - Gentle Giants Bed and Breakfast

Nine Pines Country Store - is our pick for the best gift shop in the Finger Lakes Region. The store is full of "primitives", folk art and plenty of country finds! There's always something new at Nine Pines. Most recently, Hook Rug and Wool Applique classes are being offered at the store. Located in the town of Newark, which is North of Geneva. ~ Diane & Mark De Cracker - Peppermint Cottage B&B

Wickedly Scent - is a new candle and body product store on Main Street in Canandaigua. They make their own products; candles, body butter, lotions, scrubs, bath salts, etc... in a variety of delicious scents like Cucumber, Lavender, Vanilla, etc... I especially like their Whipped Shea and Vanilla Body Butter. It's an excellent moisturizer to combat the extra dry winter season. A product from Wickedly Scent makes a special gift as it's made right here New York's Finger Lakes. ~ Sheryl Mordini - 1795 Acorn Inn

Skyland Farm Craft Gallery & Cafe - is much more than a gift shop, but it still gets my recommendation. While many of the craft and art items are high end, there is enough variety for any budget. After shopping, you can then enjoy a lovely lunch in their cafe. Located on the Southeast side of Seneca Lake. ~ Donna Cunningham - Yale Manor B&B

Browser's - They have plenty of wine and grape related items, but also lots of gifts that represent everything the entire area is famous for.  There is even an entire clothing section and a terrific selection of humorous greeting cards. Located on the village square in Hammondsport at the South end of Keuka Lake.  ~ Terry - Keuka Overlook Bed and Breakfast

Gift Shop at Wagner Winery - This is easily the largest and most comprehensive wine related gift shop in the region. There are gag gifts, tacky gifts, classy gifts, and useful gifts spread throughout the large wine and gift shop. Half the fun is in looking around. Located on Rt 414 in Lodi on the East side of Seneca Lake. ~ Steve and Kathy Wirt - Wine Country Cabins B&B

Ithaca Handworks - It is owned and operated by a consortium of over 40 local artists and craftspeople. You'll find an outstanding and varied collection of finely crafted items including wood, pottery, paper, wall art, and textiles-all made locally. Located in Ithaca at the South end of Cayuga Lake, on the Ithaca Commons. ~ Judy and Ralph - Barrister's Bed and Breakfast

Guard's Cards - on Seneca St. in Geneva is a very nice gift shop. ~ Shirley Camp - LaFayette Bed & Breakfast

Weaver View Farms - Besides having all sorts of wonderful quilts, crafts and woodworking, this delightful country store is part of a working Mennonite Farm. The gift shop is set up like a maze, giving the customer no chance of missing any of the unique assortment of items they carry, most of which are made locally by family and friends. It is just a short distance off of Route 14, making it easy to stop in for a quick browse between wineries. Located on Earls Hill Road, Penn Yan near the West side of Seneca Lake. ~ Susan & Burney Baron - Los Gatos Bed & Breakfast

Lown's House of Shoppes - You will find three floors of all kinds of dried flowers, gifts and other collectibles.  Over 20 vendors in one location to browse. Located at 131 Main Street, Penn Yan at the Northeastern tip of Keuka Lake. ~ Al and Nancy - Gorham House Bed & Breakfast
